Still setttling in - it's a long process! We had The Monaco's here last week, so the baby's room is still set up as a guest room for them to use. Plus there is that whole pregnancy thing, and toddler thing, and Lilah's birthday thing, and Thanksgiving and holidays thing.... Anyways! Point being that we're not 100% done - especially upstairs in the kid's room.s But, here are updated pictures of the house with some new furniture, decorations, etc.
Unfortunately with everything going on, we didn't do the full decorations outside this year - but Tom got a nice, lit wreath up!
Front door from the inside
That door to the right in the picture, leads to the living room, where we've gotten some new furniture. We went with the very practical for 2 kids, white! :) (We got a 7 year stain protection plan - don't worry, we're not totally dumb :) )
Moving through the living room into the kitchen area
And the dining room on the other side. See Lilah's adorable little kitchen she got from Opa for her birthday?
A close-up of our sink and the blender/toaster garage. Love this sink
Kitchen from the other angle. Tom's very proud of our drawer microwave. And yes, there is a screaming toddler running towards the cameraman - this is real life folks :)
That door leads down the hallway - we finally got some pictures up
The first door to the left is the new den (old master bedroom). We've brightened it up with some pictures, plants, my rhino head (which I need to "frame" somehow), and some perhaps-temporary curtains
You've already seen the playroom and it's always just a mess in there :) Here is the study that we've gotten set up - I like how it came out with the old living room rug in there. Lilah loves having the fish back!
Moving upstairs, here are a few new pics of the master bedroom and bath. We still need some decorations in the master over the bed, but at least the dog beds are in so they are comfy!
Different perspective of the master bath
Our fixtures in the master, since some people were asking
And lastly, Lilahs' room in progress. She's transitioning to her big girl bed so you have to ignore the oddly placed crib randomly pushed into her window. We also got her new furniture (this furniture is all going to the new baby), so we'll have to take some new pictures as soon as we get all that set up.
From the other direction
Here is a bonus picture of Lilah with Santa (we randomly decided to do this at the mall one day, so her outfit could have probably been more festive....)
The end, for now....
Welcome to the Monaco House Renovation blog!

Lilah's Birthday
Since we're having Lilah's birthday party this upcoming weekend (her birthday was last week - Happy Birthday to my little Bean!!!), we've been working hard to get some decorations up around the house. Since Tom says my pictures of the finished rooms stink, let's give him a try to take pictures of a room w/out a fisheye lens (seriously, if you've never tried it, it's very hard). Hopefully I'll update soon!

Getting Settled
Yes, this post took forever. I know I know. But I didn't want to take pictures when there was boxes etc everywhere. We still have a lot to do, but it's coming together. For instance, you'll notice there is nothing on the walls yet - we still need to figure out where everything will go. But here is our progress:
Welcome to our home:
Our family room. We've decided this couch needs to go, and we need more seating, something in the left corner, and stuff on the walls....but you get the idea. I love the carpet we found:
The dining room that you can see in the background in the above picture. We need some sort of area rug under the table, but we haven't decided what yet. Kitchen is to the right:
Kitchen. Still deciding if these are the right stools for the island:
My favorite part of the kitchen area. The double doors which open onto the back screened in porch (don't you love the tricycle in ever shot - yup, a toddler lives here):
Down the hall is the den, which used to be the master bedroom A lot more decoration is needed here, but the couch and rug are in and Tom's huge TV is hung up, so it's functional. I always wanted a blue couch:
The bathroom off the den. We didn't do much here, but we did replace the vanity top with some granite, and acid cleaned the floors to spruce it up. We need to paint this room - the tan isn't working for me:
This is the other bathroom downstairs - in the hallway. Nothing has changed in here since we redid it a few years back:
I did get these new shower curtain hangers - it's hard to see but they say "Hot" and "Cold" - I thought they were fun :)
Down the hall is Lilah's playroom, which is also far from done but starting to come together. I just finished painting the stripe on the wall and hanging up her letter decals (which she loves!). Not sure this is the book shelf / toy storage that'll stay in there, but it works right now. She loves her new little work table too. The carpet is green, although it looks like an odd color in these pictures:
Upstairs! So far only Lilah's room and our bedroom are really set up. Deuce's (baby #2) and the guest room aren't really set up yet, so no pictures of those for now. Here is the master bedroom, sorely in need of some more decoration and furniture (and please ignore the boxes)!
I took plenty of pics of our master bath in the last post. Here is the hallway bath (kid's bath). The curtain has trees and little squirrels - it was nice and colorful:
Lilah was napping during these pictures, so no pictures of her room yet. I gotta get the curtains installed, find a darn area rug and hang up some decorations before I take pictures in there. That's it for now! What do you think?

Is it...moving day?
What's this in our driveway?!?
Well, it's kinda moving day. We moved our stuff in, but not ourselves. We'll probably move in this upcoming weekend. Still it's a great step in the right direction! The finish is in sight!
Finally a picture of the full kitchen with island
Perspective from the island into the dining room (with new lighting fixture)
Let's get a close up of that sweet lighting fixture!
Not sure if I've included a picture of our little buit in cubby area in the hallway (kitchen is visible down the hall). I can't wait to see little backpacks hanging on here!
View from the upstairs (with new light fixture that needs to be dusted badly)
And a bunch of pics of the master bath which is finally wrapping up (not sure why the closet looks yellow, it's not):
The shower (glass surround to be added this week):
Close-up of the vanity:
Even more of a close-up of my Cambria counters. I LOVE them - it's actually impossible to get a good picture of how wonderful and sparkly they are:
Lilah enjoying the bubbles in the spa tub:
Did you notice the funny light? Somehow w/out paying for it we got the tub lighting package - funny
New front door to finish off this post!
More pictures to come as we continue to clean up, move in, and decorate!! That's when the real fun begins, right?

Stalled!
Ugh, just when you think things are wrapping up....
Tom made the discovery last week that our fridge was awfully close to the counter top to the right of it - close enough that he was concerned we'd dent the fridge handle on the granite if we weren't careful and swung it open too quickly. Eh, we can just be careful we figured. Well apparently late one sleepless night it popped into Tom's head that because the fridge door did not open very wide, we may not be able to open the fruit and veggie drawers. Turns out he was right :(
So you'd think - just move the fridge over a few inches, right? Well it's 14 inches that we needed! And the fridge is contained in built-in cabinetry. So we need more wall to be built, new cabinetry to be built, etc. While I'm very peeved the cabinets weren't built correctly to begin with, since they had the specs for the fridge from day 1, I will give the builder credit that he is taking care of it.
Original plan was for the POD to arrive on Friday. We're tryyyyyying to stick to that timeframe. New cabinets were installed today. So they need to be painted, along with some additional painting, before the floors can be finished for the final time. Obviously the floors need to be 100% done before we can even consider moving in. Fingers crossed!

Kitchen!
Since most of the rooms need furnishing before I can take more pictures, those might take a bit. Luckily we will have electric power soon so I can take some photos of the small details. But for now, I have some kitchen pics! It's not 100% done since we are waiting for a hose for the stove, but otherwise it's done.
What you can't see in any of these pictures is the island, it would be against my back in the first picture below. But since it had the stove sitting on top of it - it wasn't ready for the photo shoot yet.
Forgive the lighting, it was dusk outside and we only have some lights inside so far...
The backsplash over the stove. We wanted something that was contemporary, not too traditional and not too modern, and of course that matched and wasn't anything crazy. Kinda hard to see, but it's a small mosaic tile mix of glass in tans and grey/browns and stone. You can obviously see where the missing stove needs to go...
Here is the close-up of the backsplash we took in the tile store with our granite sample...
Close-up of the sink area. Luuuuv my farm sink. Glad it got put in correctly on the second try!
And close-up of the faucet with the small appliance "garage' in the background.
What's left, you may ask?
- Refinish floors in downstairs bedrooms (miscommunication with the flooring guy and he didn't do them)
- Install all fans and lighting fixtures
- Install stove
- Paint front door
- May need to rip out and reinstall some tile in master bath (don't even get me going on this one)
- Acid wash floors in downstairs den bathroom
- CLEAN
I think that's it. Estimated move time... 2 weeks?
